And this defense has been used successfully many times. It is those who attempt to argue that they are not liable who get themselves in trouble since it's not possible to prove a negative.
Haven't we heard this so many times before? They will just throw out all logic, and say something along the lines of, "we say it is true, so be a good slave and do as we say, or else!"
Then they make a couple of high profile cases highly publicized in the news to scare everyone into compliance. Did you think Wesley Snipes was convicted of tax evasion? Ask google, "Was Wesley Snipes acquitted?" Have a look at what pops up.

You can be scared of the IRS or the government. This is what they want. It is their only way to control you, fear. Fear that they will put levies on all your assets or throw you in a jail. The IRS knows your rights, and knows the limits of it's power. If you understand how the scam works, they will avoid you like the plague because they do not want to be getting into any courtroom anywhere with anyone who can prove that there is no explicit law that states that we must pay income tax.

The burden of proof is not on us, in a court of law, we are presumed innocent, we don't have to prove that we don't have a liability, the burden of proof is on the IRS to show that we are required by law to be paying these taxes. This is how thousands of others have been legally avoiding income taxes for years, some even decades now.
The income tax is a voluntary system, here is a quick clip of them telling you in plain English. When you file a return against yourself, you are making yourself liable. To file a return and then to lie or cheat on it is by far the dumbest/worst thing anyone could do. It's like volunteering to be in the army, then when you don't want to do what is required of you, trying to claim "I only volunteered". You make yourself liable when you file a return. This is not the only thing you need to know. In many cases the IRS can and has gone after people attempting to intimidate them into paying. This is why it is essential to understand exactly how these processes work and how to go about navigating them.
Aside from everything just said, consider that, when you pay taxes and fund the US government, recognize your funds are used to purchase bombs that end up being dropped on the heads of young Yemeni children. I consider it a moral obligation at this point to not pay.
All information you need to free yourself of this burden is available to you, and for free. The more of us who quit paying it, the less they can do about it and the stronger we become.
